Hues of Blue by Shianne Goodfield

“You might want to find a place to hide your majesty...” Mother Superior a.k.a. The Blue Fairy, threatened as the thin film of magic that had awoken them mere moments ago settled.

That is about as far as I got while attempting to write a fan fiction in which the Blue Fairy was the evil mastermind.

Then I thought, if I had enough evidence to write a fan fiction then why couldn't it be true? We know how Rumple stumbled into magic, and that for Regina it was practically a birth rite. But we do not know the story of the Blue Fairy - we have heard no such sob story except for omniscient wisdom.

Now again I wouldn't doubt that we may eventually find out her personal tale as the story goes on in Season 2, but lets see what her standpoint seems to be now. Her threat to Regina could be understood as, like everyone else's, being mad her life was 'taken away'. However, saying that seemed a little harsh for her usual compassionate self.

Most of you may not yet see the evil in this; so lets take a look at some OUAT fairy associated things:

For example, episode 3 (Snow Falls), Snow is carrying around fairy dust - dangerous dust that “turns your foe into a form that is easily squashed” which she obtained from a “bad fairy”. Perhaps Snow got that dust from the Blue Fairy - no exact evidence yet on that claim.

But in conjunction with utilizing fairy magic, let us turn to episode 4 (Price of Gold), when Cinderella gets a special red quill to entrap Rumple. She asked, “What if this magic also has a price?” and Prince Thomas said he'd pay it - which he most definitely did.  He went missing when he went to fetch a pail of water. Of course Ella blames Rumple at first but  as epic as Rumple is, it is very unlikely he was responsible for Thomas' disappearance. Evidence for this is that we saw a small rustle in the bushes besideThomas the moment he vanished - could it be the the price of the Blue Fairies magic?

Also if you take a look at Diane's interview of the Blue Fairy (Keegan Conner Tracy), they touch upon this topic. It also served to remind me of Ruel Ghorm (meaning Blue Star *whoa right!*) as the most powerful being in all the land.

In conclusion I'd like to pose the question; Is the Blue Fairy 'top dog'?

I've often wondered about the Blue Fairy. Anybody remember the way she treated Nova (Grumpy's true love). Total. Jerk. Manipulative. Saboteur. I definitely think there's more to this. There's a reason some are called Fairy Godmothers...think Godfather. LOL.

I have always felt she wasn't necessarily 'good' although it is the way she sees herself. Much like Ben Linus on Lost she thinks what she is doing is right but is it? Also I thought maybe the 'badspin fairy dust' came from Maleficent. Great theory

It's interesting that you bring this theory up. It has been on the back of my mind since "The Return." When the BF is talking to Baelfire she says there is good magic and bad magic and that she is on the right side. She didn't say she was on the side of good. I would think that if someone was into bad magic that they would think that was the right side too. I don't know though, I could just be reading too much into it. However if she turns out to be more evil than previously thought, I won't be surprised.

No. I don't think so. I think she was just giving Regina a friendly warning because she knew everyone would be mad at the queen. She did want to help Baelfire take Rumple somewhere without magic so they could go back to the way things were before he became the Dark One.

Besides it would make it unbalanced if all of the most powerful magic wielders were evil.

Then why didn't she tell Bae that True Love's Kiss could break his father's curse? How could she have missed that one? If all magic comes with a price, why don't the fairies (Blue or Godmother) every warn anyone about it?

I find her actions to be suspicious at best.

I don't see the BF as a protector of "good" but more a protector of "order" constantly battling the forces of "chaos"(Rumple/EQ). A commitment to order has its positive side: you keep the world from slipping into anarchy and violence. It also has a negative side: you tend to become a control freak, valuing regimentation/predictability and discouraging independence/spontaneity (this is a reprint of my facebook post).

I really like this theory Peter and I can see the story going down that road. The Blue Fairy does what she does because order is required in order to keep the Enchanted Forest balanced. Diane and Keegan also went into this in the interview. The idea of the dwarves being worker bees and the fairy genuinely believing that that is all they could ever be.

Great parallels to another sci-fi classic, Babylon 5. The Shadows and The Vorlons represented the gulf between order and chaos.

I had the theorie that she was Rumple's wife that she killed to become the Blue Fairy and offered to send Rumple and Bea away not only for her son but to remaine the most powerful. Just my opinion.

Maleficent is a fairy in most versions of 'Sleeping Beauty'. I think Snow White got the fairy dust from her. We don't know what happened after Snow and Red left Red's village. The next time we see snow has to be in 'Snow Falls'. And when we see her she has the fairy dust and she has gotten more badass. In 'Red-Handed' Snow is running from the queen and is kind of lame. Something happened. She got the fairy dust , is more badass and wants to kill the queen.

The blue fairy is weird. I really hopes that she's a bit evil. But I guess she's on the good guys' side. If she is evil, then there'll be a war between the people with magic, and the people without magic. And we have seen that they can simply turn everyone into snails and crush them. I don't know guys

It could be. I think anything is possible in Fairy Tale Land. Should be an interesting Season 2!
