Thought I'd bring this up since our British friends just aired it.

One of the parts that I still just think is hilarious is when Mr. Gold casually buys duct tape and rope (on Valentine's Day!) while David is all clueless, absorbed with the two cards.

Ha -- yeah, I loved that bit. I was sitting there watching thinking, "David -- seriously? This does not look suspicious? At all?"

One thing that hits me though, every time, is how disturbing that scene in the cottage is, when Mr. Gold is beating Moe -- I mean, we've seen Rumpel kill but never torture, and Mr. Gold is always so calm, that to have him suddenly flip out like that... And I think what made it even more disturbing was the fact that it wasn't just rage but the deepest sort of pain coming out as well.

Brilliant, really.

And there had better be a Director's Cut of that ep on the DVDs....!!!!!

I think somehow Mr. Gold was punishing himself while beating Moe. Somehow he was talking to himself and all that rage and pain were directed towards himself. That scene brought tears to my eyes. Still does.

And I also hope there's a Director's Cut on the DVDs. They just can't let those extra 18 minutes go to waste.

And while we are at it, what do you guys think/wish those extra 18 minutes were about?

Interesting...I hadn't thought of all that emotion being directed at himself as well, although I probably should have... And I agree -- it makes me cry every time. *sniff*

Personally, I am hoping for more Rumpel/Belle scenes and perhaps a bit more of Mr Gold in Storybrooke -- I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of him in his house, really. That scene where we get a glimpse of him walking up the stairs and then suddenly he's inside this huge house -- to me it feels, in this episode at least, like he might find it just a bit empty.

I was watching the pilot again tonight and I noticed something that made me go Aww!

In the scene when Mr. Gold hears Emma's name for the first time, it is supposed it is when he starts recovering his memories. Well, there's a moment right after he hears the name, when he's about to leave the inn, and he kind of stops for a second, deep in thought. I think he's starting to remember then. And right THEN a little bell appears in the scene.

I don't know, but somehow it made me think it is a symbol that the first thing he remembered was his little Belle. Does this make any sense?

I think actually he never lost his memories.. he must have designed the curse that way. You get it since the cell scene, where the EQ asks him how to enact the curse, and among the conditions he asks for the whole "please" thing... isn't it suspicious? I'm pretty sure he alredy knew his memories wouldn't have faded away. He's just very good at hiding things, this is why Regina understood it so late.

Since he's the creator of the curse, it's safe to assume he made it so it wouldn't effect him. Else he wouldn't know of the whole 'please' deal he made with Regina either. The lack of magic just made his Dark Curse less dominanly active, which in turn made him.. well... saner.

I agree, I think he's had his memories for quite some time now and I guess that is the reason he made the deal with the Queen where she has to obey when he says 'please'.
