Once Upon A Fan

This is my first topic: I have a theory that they started the show with the intention that Prince Charming and Snow White would be the top couple,  But i don't theink it is i think its Rumplestiltskin and Belle. Does anyone else think the same.

Let me know what everyone thinks?

I vote for RumpleXBelle. They are much better couple than Snow White and James. I like them more. ^^

I honestly don't think they expected the huge RumBelle fandom that would develop once "Skin Deep" aired. It has just become so huge. Most of the fiction we get submitted is RumBelle related.

With it being so popular, makes me wonder if the producers will try and get Emilie De Ravin in more episodes next season? Have to wait and see.

Yes they need to def have more of her in they got the right one to play belle.  I have heard that they will be starting right where they left off so she has to be in the 1st episode of Season Two.

Gareth I noticed that about the fiction im not complaining though you can never have to much of rumplestiltskin and belle and they are brilliant.

I loved rumplestiltskin from the start but skin deep just amazing. 

IMHO the reason why Rumbelle is more popular is because their story was better written. There was a lot of potential for Snowing if they had devoted them to serious character development, and not using the cliche of 'spunky, fighting girl in a world where women don't do that, and man gets immediately intrigued.' I believe if they had gone the route of two royals gradually learning to love and respect each other through great trials (maybe war), Snowing would have been epic. I really liked them when he was in the coma, and she would read to him. There was a heartbreaking longing and pathos to the situation. Then when mouth-to-mouth woke him up, it was beautiful! Two seconds later though, Kathryn comes in and then the unpopular adultery storyline began. About the same time that I was sick to death of David/MM, 'Skin Deep' aired, and then it was 'Snowing Who?'

Since I really liked Snowing at one time, and I think the actors are awesome and adorable, I hope in season two, the writers up the ante and gives them a complex, three-dimentional relationship that is Rumbelle worthy. They have the actors who could blow it out of the park, just give them better material! IMHO

Considering snow and charming had more parts of their relationship and love shown, It is a shame that more people didn't connect with them.   I also felt like chamings counter part david was rather annoying got sick of his pity party. I hope aswell that its changes and gets better for season 2.  

But i would still go with rumplestiltskin and belle I cant imagine they would ever be able overshadow them now. They had 1 episode and they were amazing Skin Deep was the best episode of the series. ( I also love Robert Carlyle I've loved him as an actor since 95 in Hamish Macbeth)

I think the two most popular couples fandom-wise are actually Rumbelle and Swan Queen, even though the latter isn't canon. I'm not sure why but Snowing didn't take off like I'd thought it would- I think maybe for me it just seemed to drag on a bit and for a while it kind of seemed like they were writing without any like... set ending in mind? I really like Snowing, but I think Rumbelle has more... depth? Idk. Snowing's just sort of sweet and fluffy and while that's all well and good, I think sometimes maybe we fans have a penchant for darker romances- hence the popularity of Rumbelle (and even Swan Queen or Mad Swan).

I definitely agree with all of this. I feel like they got so caught up with David/MM and then it just... deflated a bit for me. I really didn't like the adultery storyline either. I understand why Kathryn was introduced, and I love her to pieces, but I feel like the whole adultery thing could have been avoided if they'd remained chaste until David decided to do the responsible thing and separate from Kathryn. Or even, Kathryn could have just been his girlfriend- not his wife. Either way, I felt the handling of David/MM was just... meh. And then Snowing was cute but exactly, their characters weren't necessarily developed all that well. Countless times I've sat down and tried to write a Snow-centric fic and I'm not sure where to start because she's just sort of oblique to me. James is a bit easier to write for because I think we got more development of him than we did for Snow, but still- I feel like there just needed to be more depth there, to echo what I was saying above. (Sorry for double-posting btw, I just wanted to reply to Woodrow's comment too).

Loved both Rumple and especially Belle from their first apperances(as may be apparant from my username:D)!!!
I think that David being married would have had a large impact as he was having an affair, and as much as they love each other and knowing all we know it's still something I can't condone - I can forgive but not condone.
