Once Upon A Fan

In Season one of Once Upon A Time, the character of “Granny” quickly became a fan favorite. From her first sassy lines on screen in Storybrooke, to her stereotype breaking turn in “Red Handed”, Granny found her way into the hearts of thousands of fans. Who could forget the now famous image of Granny wielding that crossbow? Not your traditional version of Red Riding Hood’s Granny from the stories, our Granny is one tough lady.

We at Once Upon A Fan have been extremely lucky to conduct a “quick fire” twitter interview with the amazing actress that brings Granny to life each week, Beverley Elliot. Beverley is an amazing, kind and extremely talented performer whose body of work includes television, movies, theater and vocal performance. We appreciate this opportunity to Tweet with Beverley and get to know her a little better. The answers brought interesting and often hilarious results.

You are truly a “Jill of all trades” TV, Movies, Music, Theater. Is there one aspect of entertaining you love the most?

As far as being a "Jill" of all trades....I love performing in all forms. I think singing is my first love, but TV land rules these days

You have a beautiful voice! Any chance we will hear Granny sing on the show?

Will Granny sing on OUAT? I hope so. All in good time. It is nice to have a few surprises up one's sleeve. Working on crossbow now!

Are you surprised by what a huge following Once has acquired in such a short time?

OUAT has a huge following. I'm not surprised at all. Good always finds its way to the top. Everyone involved in this show is stellar good!! 

Granny has become a fast fan favorite. Safe to say she’s no dowdy grandma! Are you happy with the way that Granny has developed?

LOVE how the writers have developed Granny. I've played nurses/waitresses/moms for years. Playing a kick ass action Granny ROCKS.  'Granbo'

You and Meghan have great chemistry in your scenes. Did that come naturally?

Meghan is a beautiful soul. It is easy and natural to love, protect her and play her Granny. She is such a good actress and person too.

What would you like to see the show explore with Granny in future episodes?

Granny should have a love interest! Any ideas? We all need a little lovin, especially at my age. As long as I don't lose my edge.

What is something your fans would be surprised to know about you?

My fans would be surprised to know that the first person I told I was pregnant was Henry Winkler. He is not the father of my child by the way!

What has been your favorite scene to film so far?

Favourite scene so far...the one we shot on Friday night...I can't tell you or I will have to kill you.....hmmm...wouldn't be good.

Where would you like to see the relationship between Granny and Red go now that magic is back?

I would like to see Red and Granny go back to the past... to when she was a little girl.. maybe flash forward to great- grandchildren in season 7!

We’ve seen that Once will begin to incorporate new stories and lands. What additions are you most excited about in the upcoming season.

Can't wait to see who stays at my hotel. Hopefully some tall, dark and handsome character who sweeps me off my feet. Who could that be?

You tweeted recently about your camping trip. How did it go?

Camping was wonderful. Lots of laughing and sun glorious sun. LOVE waking up outside. I think I really am part wolf.
