Hook, Line & Sinker

Posted by Once Upon A Fan on November 3, 2012 at 7:05 AM

E-Online recently caught up with Colin O'Donoghue to talk about his feelings with regards playing such an iconic Dinsye villian. The hunky irish revealed that he decided to play Hook in a very different manner. "I decided to go in a little bit of a different way with the character. I kind of wanted him to be charming and in a sense manipulative as opposed to outwardly evil. I thought it would be good if he was sort of able to use his charm and I guess sexuality to get whatever he wants. If it doesn't work out then he can just kill them."

Colin also admits he was nervous taking on the role: "I was nervous because I knew that they had sort of already introduced the character at Comic-Con this year. I knew there was a huge response to that," he said. "I didn't feel any pressure because of who I was playing because the character was so different; It's in a completely different context, but I knew there was an expectation."

When asked about donning wigs and eyeliner for the role, Colin explained:  "There were conversations about having the long hair, but I wouldn't have minded either way." As for this Hook's affinity for eyeliner? "I've learned a little bit," O'Donoghue said of the product. "I've learned I'm pretty good at not blinking when they put it in!"

When questioned about his co-star and leading lady, Jennifer Morrison, O'Donoghue gave a juicy teaser as to where their rocky relationship could be headed. "They have a very interesting dynamic between the two of them because Emma is obviously a strong character, strong-willed, and Hook is Captain Hook, you know?" he teased. "So they have an interesting kind of back and forth. That's all I'm going to say at the minute!"

In other news, according to a spoiler from E-Online, we won’t be meeting Peter or Tinkerbell any time soon. Colin says that the cast are currently filming Season 2, Episode 11, and that “he has yet to film any Neverland scenes … he hasn’t even been told if they are definitely introducing Peter, though he’s hoping OUAT decides to at some point.”

Why is he so cute....why? hehe Very interesting interview. I really think Adam and Eddie wanted to make Hook a lot younger than Disney's Peter Pan. I guess part of wearing the wig means you're in a higher rank (he's already a Captain, but a very young one), but he also needs to be older. Maybe they'll introduce the reason why he decides to start wearing a wig.

I agree. I really want to love this character. He has potential, but I don't think we've seen it yet.
